Are the Rangers surprising?
Why is everyone so surprised by the Texas Rangers? They are a good hitting team. Did people forget that they crushed the ball last year but that their pitching was crushed even more? Do people think that the Rangers gave away Alex Rodriguez for Glenn Hubbard? No, they got back Alfonso Soriano, who has been 30-30 in each of the last two seasons. Rodriguez for Soriano was pretty close to a wash. Add Soriano to a team that boasts, Michael Young, Hank Blalock and Mark Teixeira and you've got a very potent offense. They still can't pitch (although they have a nice closer in Francisco Cordero), but the offense is bailing them out. They're basically the Colorado Rockies of the AL. No one should be surprised that they're scoring runs and therefore no one should be surprised that they're having some success.
